He lay down in his underwear in the snow and aimed his gun.

zineofthetimes

An #explosion ripped through the night air. And then another, and another. He crawled out of his tent and lay down in his underwear in the snow and aimed his gun, his body shivering uncontrollably under the watchful eye of the Sargent in this simulated enemy attack. #vss365

She flirts with him, a hand in her side.

zineofthetimes

She flirts with him, a hand in her side. Travelers #slip past. Suddenly, she's gone. He looks around and smiles. A voice in his earpiece. He rushes out, flashes his badge, and says, "you are under arrest" to her and her companion who had stolen his suitcase. #vss365I am having fun doing these daily #vss365 stories! I think the quote images can help get people read the post. We'll see.

Quacking Ducks

zineofthetimes

A loud #symphony of quacking ducks rose from the pond. The boys thought it was hilarious. The quacking became softer as they kept whistling. Eventually, they left and a man appeared with a bag of bread in his hands. He whistled to a luke-warm reception from the ducks. #vss365

But is it art?

zineofthetimes

So what I'm basically doing right now is researching into how you can make interesting images with quotes in them. Here you see images that were generated ad random. The input is a quote and an emotion, and then a program I wrote makes an image. It's still in its early stages; I keep requesting for an image change each time I use it. But it is getting better. This random quote image generator is part of the zinezoo.com website. Each time you post an article in your zine, it will generate a quote image for you. No need to hunt down public-domain stock images anymore, and no need to fiddle with drawing software. As you can see, I am trying it out with wisdom quotes at the moment. In other places, I am trying a different approach; there, I draw romance-themed images to combine with romance quotes. I found out there's a massive audience for that!Generating beautiful quote images; it's an exciting topic to research.

Coding, drawing

zineofthetimes

And I have to say, setting up Zinezoo is fun! The website generates quote images for you. Itís not quite perfect yet, but there is time to polish the code. Itís a good thing there arenít many users yet - right now itís just me and my wife. I can still easily throw things around. Having said that, the site is pretty functional complete.Itís funny because Iím an artist really (and a coder). so creating code that generates images for me feels weird. Iím currently coding on Zinezoo during the day and drawing in the evening.Having said that, and abiding by the quote, back to work it is for me! Drawings are waiting to be made.

As a Creator, You Should Create Every Day

zineofthetimes

The cool thing about working on your art every day is that your sub-conscious keeps working on it too when you are resting. You wake up with lots of new ideas and you can't wait to jump out of bed! That's why it is important, as a creator, to find a time slot in your day where you are sure you can work on your art. Combined with a micro-habit that starts your creative activity, it becomes an automatic habit.I hope you have a wonderful, productive, creative day.

A new Instagram account

zineofthetimes

So much in our society is now about reaching large audiences, about "scalability". Scalability is about being able to reap more rewards without having to do more work. For instance, on social media, you can, in theory, get any number of likes and follows per post without having to do extra work. It still means you are just creating one post. But there is a beauty in having a small account. You get to experiment, try things out. When you have an established following, you can not change things as easily anymore, not without losing a large part of your audience. Also, you get to have the time to see each account that does interact with your account and you can have a personal interaction with them. When you have millions of followers, you can not easily do that anymore.

Zinezoo has been in BETA for a day now!

zineofthetimes

And how can you not be happy when you can finally go online with a website you have worked so long on!Zinezoo is a micro-blogging site that is slightly different from the other platforms in that it includes a newsletter that delivers your articles to the readers who subscribe to your zine - we call it a zine, not a blog. It also allows you to publish an article by someone else in your zine by pressing the co-publish link. Your subscribers will then receive the article too. You can curate the zine and effectively become a curator of good content. We'll see if this works, but for now, the site is alive and running! It is in beta, so there might be bugs. If you find one, please tell us! We may also still occasionally opt to reset the database, so don't lean on it too heavily just yet. But we'd love for you to try this out!I am editing this article to see if it still works. We're in beta for a few days now, and I didn't have to reset any databases!

Reading about studies that show the unexpected pleasure in repetition. I love repetition, familiarity, tradition, repeating eventsÖso I was very interested to read about this research. Yes, novelty makes people happier, but so does familiarity! What ties them together, to my mind? Pattern.Attending Flavor University! I learned a lot about how to think about flavor and got much more appreciation for how complex food is.Cinnamon Ice Breakers. My sister Elizabeth introduced these mints to me, and now I donít leave home without them.My space heater. Itís finally getting cold here in New York City, and my office is under-heated. But my trusty space-heater does a wonderful job of making my office livable.Weíve had our final live "Happier Hour" show for 2019! Elizabeth and I had so much fun on this tour. Each city, each venue, and each audience had its own vibe. Click here to see a few photos.

WHOSO list to hunt, I know where is an hind.

Whoso list to hunt, I know where is an hind,But as for me, hťlas, I may no more. The vain travail hath wearied me so sore,I am of them that farthest cometh behind.Yet may I by no means my wearied mindDraw from the deer, but as she fleeth aforeFainting I follow. And you're imprisoned because he believes you had sex with her too. What do you do?Well, you write a sonnet of course! One you hope convinces the King that you could not possibly have done that! The sonnet above is that sonnet. I thought that was pretty rock&roll!
